Why this list exists
Sente moves money through banks, mobile-money operators and card schemes, and is regulated in each market it serves. Some activities are illegal, and others carry risks our partners and regulators do not allow us to take on.
This list applies to merchants, developers, agents and anyone else who receives payments through Sente. It is not exhaustive: we may decline or end any relationship that puts customers, partners or the platform at risk.
Prohibited activities
Anything illegal where you or your customer are, including goods or services that break sanctions, export controls or consumer-protection law.
Money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, and payments for or on behalf of sanctioned people, entities or countries.
Pyramid and Ponzi schemes, multi-level marketing that relies on recruitment, get-rich-quick schemes and unlicensed investment or lending products.
Illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, and prescription medicines sold without the required licence.
Weapons, ammunition, explosives and their parts, unless you hold every licence the law requires and we have approved you in writing.
Counterfeit or stolen goods, and anything that infringes someone else's intellectual property.
Sexual services, and content involving minors or people who have not consented — always prohibited, with no exception.
Shell banks, anonymous accounts, and services designed to hide who is paying or being paid, including cryptocurrency mixers and tumblers.
Wildlife, ivory and other products whose trade is banned.
Reselling or sharing your Sente access so that others can take payments through your account.
Restricted activities
These can be served only after we review the business and confirm the licences it holds. Apply before you start taking payments.
Gambling, betting and lotteries; money transfer and foreign exchange services; virtual-asset services such as exchanges and wallets; lending and credit; charities and fund-raising; pharmacies; alcohol and tobacco; travel and ticketing; dating services; and adult content that is legal where it is sold.
What happens if a business breaks these rules
We may pause payments, hold funds while we investigate where the law allows, close the account, and report the activity to the authorities when the law requires it.
